Text Box:  2008 - Driver Safety Rules - All Classes 
All drivers will wear their helmets, arm restraints, seat belts and driving / fire suit any time kart is in motion.
Full face helmets are recommended.  Motocross style must use eye goggles for eye protection.
360 degree neck supports are required
Full length (top & bottom) driving suit is required.  No shorts or short sleeve shirts.  Full fire suit is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Full finger gloves are recommended.
Arm restraints are required.  Must be adjusted to keep arms/hands inside of kart.  Do not route arm restraints through the steering wheel.  Arm restraints are to be fastened to the central seat belt latch.  No other location is acceptable.  In case the driver needs to be removed from the kart quickly, one latch and their free from the kart.
Seat belts must be bolted to frame or rollcage, to at least 3-points.  Always cinch belts tight.  Do not adjust loosely just for comfort.
**Please go over these important rules with your driver.  Line up official will check for all of the above in the staging lane.  If a driver is asked to pull out of line up for any safety reason, Please abide.  We are only looking out for the safety of the drivers and do not want any injuries.**

Text Box: 2008 Kart Motor and Weight Rules
 Young Guns (Beginner) – 250lb. / 4-7 Years of Age 
1.       The only motors allowed in this class are 126cc or smaller OHV/OHC single cylinder and 148cc and smaller L-head type single cylinder. Ex. Briggs, Tecumseh, Robin, Honda
2.       Drum style clutches only. No disc style. 
3.       The only Modifications / Alterations allowed are: 
a.       This is a governed class.  The governor must stay intact and functional.  Governor speed must not be set above 3600 RPM.  (Engine speed will be checked with tach at end of race.)
b.       May use fuel pump.
c.       May use any air cleaner assembly. 
d.       May use any exhaust header.  Must have flared or washer end if exhaust protrudes outside of frame or roll cage.
Young Guns (Advanced) - 250lbs. / 5-8 Years of Age
The only motors allowed in this class are 126cc or smaller OHV/OHC single cylinder and 148cc and smaller L-head type single cylinder.  Ex. Briggs, Tecumseh, Robin, Honda
Drum style clutches only. No disc style.
The only Modifications / Alterations allowed are:
a. May disconnect or remove governor assembly
b. May use fuel pump.
c. May use any air cleaner assembly.
d. May use any exhaust header.  Must have flared or washer end if exhaust protrudes outside of frame or roll cage.
e. May use adjustable main jet on carburetor.
*These are stock engine classes, any part can be compared to a known OEM part for tech*
**TECH PROCEDURES & GUIDE LINES FOR ANIMAL CLASSES**
Cylinder blocks: stock sleeve blocks (max. .030 bore) (piston pop up +.000). 
Piston: stock Briggs pistons installed per. Manufacturers specs. (Arrow to mag. side, no machining)
Rod: Any stock length rod can be used.
Crankshaft: Stock crank. (Stock dimensions)
Flywheel: Stock Jr. Racecar or Briggs PVL. (Stock magneto)
Cylinder head: Combustion chamber floor depth, no less than .319!
Combustion chamber squish band areas around plug and bottom portion of chamber no less than .011! (Will be measured with a quality depth gauge and will have 0 tolerances.)
Valves:  Intake OD min. & max. 1.055 - 1.065, Exhaust OD min. & max. 935 - .945 (valve length 3.372 +/- .010 will be used for tech) 
Valve springs: Stock valve springs. (Or stock replacement to exact stock specs)
Camshafts: will be profiled out using a degree wheel with stock/wka/ikf/kart specifications. (Maximum cam lifts .255) (Gross valve lift will be teched @ valve spring retainer .252 maximum lift with no lash)
 Lifters: stock replacement only.
 Push Rods: Stock length. (5.638-5.656 minimum and maximum length)
 Rocker Arms: Stock replacement only. (No alterations of any kind, comparison to a known stock part will be used)
Valve Cover: Stock valve cover with working stock baffle.
Carburetor: Items that drop from the bottom of carburetor with bowl off are not tech items: 
Examples: main jet, pilot jet, float, needle and seat, emulsion tube. 
Intake manifold: The only alteration allowed is slotting of holes for proper alignment.
Restrictor plate: Other than color and hole dimension/dimensions plate should be installed with tab facing to left 
  
Fuel pump pulse line: (top oil fill on side cover is the only allowed place)
Crank case ventilation: (from valve cover only) 
Starter: Any type starter allowed.
Notes: These engine tech specs can be changed at any time per tracks updates.
All engine parts, except listed allowed changeable parts can be teched to a known stock Briggs Animal part.
Notes: This is a stock engine class and if anything is altered or replaced other than what is listed in this engine spec sheet it does not fit the mandated requirements.
Red Plate Animal - 250lb. / 6-8 Years of Age
1.       This is a Restricted Stock Briggs & Stratton Animal class.  The only approved motor is the Briggs Animal OHV.
2.     Must run  3-hole .279” Red Horstman restrictor plate.  Will be teched with .281" no/go. Restrictor must be mounted between Carburetor and Manifold.  Restrictor may not be altered in any way.  Must use gasket between restrictor and manifold. 
3.     May use any clutch (disc or drum).
Stock Jr. Champ / Live Axle - 300lb. / 8-13 Years of Age
1.       6.5hp Maximum (clones ok)
2.       These are stock motor classes.  No aftermarket motor parts allowed. No porting, milling, grinding, etc. allowed with the exception of Briggs motors are allowed to remove the EPA ramp in the Intake port, or use Briggs head without EPA ramp, but do not remove any material on either side of that area.  Briggs motors must use Plastic cam, #555532, or #696813 camshaft.  These three cams tech out at the exact same specs.  Briggs motors may upgrade to #555626 connecting rod.
3.       May upgrade valve springs and keepers. 
4.       May disconnect or remove governor assembly. 
5.       May use any air cleaner assembly. 
6.       May use adjustable main jet on stock carburetor. 
7.       May use any exhaust header.  Must have flared or washer end in exhaust protrudes outside of frame or roll cage. 
Gold Plate Animal - 275lb. / 7-11 Years of Age
1.       This is a Restricted Stock Briggs & Stratton Animal class.  The only approved motor is the Briggs Animal OHV. 
2.       Must run  3-hole .312” Gold Horstman restrictor plate.  Will be teched with .314" no/go.  Restrictor must be mounted between Carburetor and Manifold.  Restrictor may not be altered in any way.  Must use gasket between restrictor and manifold. 
3.       May use any clutch (disc or drum).
Stock Animal - 315lb. / 9-14 Years of Age
1.       This is a stock Briggs & Stratton Animal Class.   The only approved motor is the Briggs Animal OHV.
Limited Animal - 325lbs. / 11 - 16 Years of Age
Engines rules: Briggs Animal only! Max over bore .030
1: stock animal cylinder (intek cylinder Ok) (piston must not be more than .005 out of bore with carbon) (measurement taken from center of piston) No tolerance!
2: stock stroke animal/intek cranks (stock stroke, journal size and stock appearing)
3: connecting rod (stock length rod only) (after market Ok) 
4: stock Briggs animal piston (only Briggs replacement piston only) (must be installed in engine per factor specs) (numbers and appearance will be used as tech)
5: cylinder head (stock animal head only) (no porting, grinding, stock appearing) (stock valve sizes and stock Briggs valves) (any valve spring and retainer can be used) the cylinder head will carry the same tech specs as all animal classes posted in Animal tech section.
6: stock profile & lift cam (Cam lift will be checked at valve spring profiles with degree wheel/WKA/IKF specs) (gross valve lift .252
7: stock lifters (tech will be, OD & length)
8: pushrods (stock animal only) (length will be teched)
9: rocker arms (stock animal or intek, no modifications) (appearance will be teched) (rocker arm supports OK)
10: valve cover (any cover or spacer Ok)
11: intake manifold (any manifold Ok) (manifold is a non tech item)
12: carburetor ( No larger than .875" or 22mm venturi) Gas or Alcohol
13: fuel pump (single outlet, single pump) (can be pulsed from intake or crank case) 
14: flywheel (animal Jr. Racecar with stock coil or Briggs PVL with stock coil) (cooling fan is optional)
15: ignition timing (not a tech item)
16: crank case venting will be at valve cover only.
Notes:
Any stock part can be teched against a known Briggs stock part.
Engine gaskets should be Briggs replacement only.
Modified Champ - 340lb. / 12 - 21 Years of Age
**Driver's must have (1) year experience in Stock Animal class and track approval before they will be allowed to run this class** 
1.       Maximum displacement – 215cc.  (4-cycle only)  The only approved motors are:
a.       Briggs OHV
b.       Honda OHV
c.       Briggs 5hp L-Head
d.       Tecumseh OHV
e.       Robin Subaru OHV
f.        Robin Subaru OHC
2.       Must use stock block, crankshaft, and head. 
3.       Must use stock diameter size valves. 
4.       Camshaft is to not exceed .308” lift. 
5.       Grinding, porting, decking, and polishing allowed. 
6.       Carburetor – .875" or 22 mm. maximum venturi.
7.       Must use Billet Flywheel. 
8.       Gas or Alcohol fuel.  No additives in Alcohol. 
9.       May use any air cleaner assembly. 
10.   May use any exhaust header.  Must have flared or washer end if exhaust protrudes outside of frame or roll cage. 
 

Text Box: 2008 - General Kart Rules for all Classes 
Frames  
1.      Live Axle - No production built racing chassis.  Motor must be mounted behind driver.
2.      Champ Kart - Any production/purpose built racing chassis.  Motor must be mounted beside driver.
3.       Frames must be constructed of metal.  No aluminum or conduit tubing. 
4.      All karts will be outfitted with Rollcage.  Rollcage must be a minimum four-point either bolted or welded to frame. 
5.      Minimum of 3" head clearance to roll cage. 
6.      Minimum four-point seat belts bolted to frame or roll cage. 
7.      Front and rear bumpers are required.  Bumpers must be of tubular design.  No flat style allowed. Maximum width of rear bumper may be no wider than tire sidewall to sidewall width. Maximum width of front bumper may be no wider than frame rails.  Lowest rail of Bumpers may be no higher than 4" from ground.  
8.      Nerf bars are required.  Nerf bars may not protrude past tire sidewall. 
9.  All karts must have adequate protection over driver’s feet.  Full bodied hood, recommended. 
Exhaust / Header Pipe 
1.      May use any type or style of open header.  
2.      If exhaust end protrudes outside of kart frame or roll cage, must have flared or washer style end. 
Tires & Wheels  
1.      Any 5" or 6" diameter steel or aluminum wheels. 
2.      Any compound slick or treaded tire.
Brakes 
1.      Mechanical or Hydraulic disc is recommended.  No scrubber style brakes.  Must stop kart in a safe distance. 
Fuel
1.      Pump gasoline only.  No racing fuels of any type.  
2.      Alcohol fuel allowed in Modified Champ class only.  Kart must have colored band on roll cage, indicating alcohol.  No additives of any sort allowed in Alcohol.  
Numbers
1.      Kart number must be displayed on both sides, front, and grandstand side of roll cage. 
2.      Numbers must be in contrasting color, so scorers can identify kart number. 
Engine Kill Switches
1.      Must have roll cage mounted on/off switch.  Must be mounted in right rear area on roll cage with the ON position pointing forward or up.
2.      Driver must be able to reach a second kill switch while seated and buckled in place. 
Weights 
1.      All weights added to kart, must be bolted to point of attachment with adequate fastener. 
2.      All weights must be painted white, so they can be seen if they fall from kart onto track during race. 
3.      All weights must have kart number on them for identification.
